PsychopompE
Platform Played On: PC
ABOUT
Psychopomp is about a very unhinged lady who suspects that the Government is hiding secrets under Catacombs in various places and discover secrets that's being kept from the public.
STORY
The story starts out with the main character creating the "Psychopomp" and then wearing it to help her on finding out about the government secrets that are kept in each facility, Whether it be a School, Hospital, or Water Treatment plant. As you explore these places, you learn a bit about the places until you complete each area. Due to this game being an hour long I won't say too much about the story, However there are papers you can find laying around that can tell you more about the story and world alongside these random event places that also brings out more mystery to the world. Overall, For a short game it puts you on the edge of your seat to what everything could mean.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is interesting as it takes a step into a First Person classic Dungeon crawler mixed with some real-ish time combat. What I mean is that the monsters are actively going after you and they're not on a tile while you are. There's also things like Looking, Touching, Talking involved with various dialog you can find. There's also a Inventory system kinds similar to resident evil but you will never find enough items to even fill it up, It's just mainly to look a bit cool. The game atmospherically is horrific but cool at the same time, You may jump when you see a monster or something coming at you from the corner and so you just beat it with a hammer. Oh yeah, You can kill almost everything you come across with your hammer.
MUSIC
I think this is Karbonic's best music he has done yet, Many of the tracks are a Jam and the ones that are atmospherical are actually really good. Trust me, The hospital's theme is just so good in a horrific way. There's also a bonus song once you beat the game that will play on the title screen and it's honestly really cool to watch with all the things that happens on the screen.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Psychopomp has been an instant hit and probably his most popular game yet, It's honestly a solid 1 hour experience and after you play it, you can't help but to want even more from the game. If you want to play it, It's 100% free on Steam and Itch.io and running it through Wine has had no problem with it at all. Infact the game is VERY lightweight to play it on anything. There's really hardly any issues to complain about, It's quite unique for what it does and it's fun.
